Responsibilities:

Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing all departments, particularly the nursing department, its programs and activities.

Conduct facility support visits to ensure ongoing progress of clinical training goals and improvement plans. Communicate to the VPCO.

Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.

Make written oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator, Director of Clinical Services (DCS), Regional Director of Operations (RDO), and Regional Clinical Coordinators (RCC) as necessary/required concerning the training needs and competency of the Nursing Department, and other departments at the facility.

Review at least monthly Relias Learning reports for trends. Report all concerns to the VPCO as necessary.

Assist in participating in the Quality Review and Scorecard process for facilities, as needed.

Review facility plan of corrections for all deficiencies noted during mock survey inspections to assist the facility in developing appropriate plans of corrections to meet the needs of all residents in the facility.

Participate in the CQAMC committee quarterly, as needed.

Review clinical denials for admission to assess appropriateness and identify and provide facility clinical competency training or program development.

Collaborate with the region team (RDO, RCC, MDS, Dietary, HR, etc.) to ensure appropriate resources are provided to ensure facility success. Partner with the RDO and region team to conduct joint focus facility visits and conference calls as needed.

Work with RCC to address any resident-specific or clinical services equipment or supply needs and keep the VPCO informed of progress in resolving.

Assure that each facility has current resources for all regulatory requirements, provide frequent education of current and new regulatory requirements, interpretive guidelines, and the survey process for all facility personnel.

Assist in identifying changes necessary regarding current policies and procedures and established facility policies and procedures and communicate recommendations to the VPCO.

Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies, as needed. Assist with plan of correction, development, implementation, and monitoring.

Requirements:

Active RN license in state of residence or state(s) of practice; BSN required.

Must have, as a minimum, 3–5 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care facility.

Experience in multi-facility management or demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize.
