ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF ANALYST - NON-MANAGERIAL, LEVEL 3Established in 1805, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (the NYC Health Department) is the oldest and largest health department in the country. PROGRAM AND JOB DESCRIPTION:CHECW aims to eliminate racial inequities resulting in premature mortality with a focus on chronic disease, by addressing the social and environmental factors that impact health. CHECW works to increase place-based investments in priority neighborhoods with community programming and services based on epidemiology; influence and leverage the health system to promote whole-person care; and find innovative ways to improve the built environment and address other social determinants of health.

The Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health (BBNH) champions the agency's mission to protect and promote the health of all New Yorkers. BBNH's catchment area includes North and Central Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Bedford Stuyvesant, Bushwick, East New York, and Brownsville. This bureau supports programming, planning, and recovery work to address racial and other social inequities resulting in premature mortality for neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by chronic disease and COVID-19.

The Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health seeks to hire an Executive Director to ensure all bureau programs and initiatives are coordinated, implemented, and aligned to accomplish programmatic and administrative goals and objectives established by CHECW and the Commissioner of Health.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Support the Assistant Commissioner with strategic planning, program development, and program oversight.Oversee unit directors ensuring scopes of work align with agency, division, and bureau goals and objectives.Serve as Bureau of Brooklyn Neighborhood Health's administrative lead to CHECW's Bureau of Finance and Administrative Services.Work closely with unit directors to identify external funding sources.Serve as the bureau liaison to coordinate joint activities with other bureaus/divisions.Coordinate and prepare reports on bureau activities and initiatives.Collaborate with city, state and federal agencies, community-based organizations, and other experts to advance the mission of the bureau.

FINAL APPOINTMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT & BUDGET APPROVALThis position MAY be eligible for remote work up to two days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A master's degree from an accredited college in a relevant field and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in specified areas, including 18 months in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity.2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the specified areas, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience.

Preferred Skills

Master's degree in public health, public policy, or a related field desirable.Expertise in supervising and managing different levels of staff.Demonstrated history of successfully securing and/or managing funding.Expertise in program development and implementation.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Creative problem solver.Experience building and maintaining relationships with various organizations.Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to public health anti-racism social justice and equity.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
