Location : East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility

Schedule : General work schedule is 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and is based on the general operating hours of the facility. Candidate must be available to work non-traditional hours including some early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed to meet the needs of the program.

Responsibilities :

Under the supervision of the Department Director, the Clinical Support Manager will serve Probation staff working in institutions primarily at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility (EMJDF) and the Youth Transition Center (YTC) when needed, to give them support including individual & group consultation and linkage to community resources. The Clinical Support Manager will be a leader in the development and enhancement of a trauma-informed environment and team. The Clinical Support Manager will also support Probation Officers working with youth in custody to understand trauma-informed services and behaviors associated with mental health needs of youth.

Duties :

Provide mental health and wellness supports to Probation staff who work in institutions at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility (EMJDF) and at the Youth Transition Campus (YTC) when needed.

Provide crisis intervention, individual and reflective counseling, group support, and consultation to staff as needed.

Proactively reach out to Probation staff experiencing hardships, provide counseling, and link to County-funded and community-based services.

Develop and possess knowledge of resources in the community and through the county to facilitate linkages and referrals for Probation staff.

Document case notes in ETO and generate reports as required by SBCS and Probation.

Provides services to Probation staff only and not to youth in custody except in emergency situations and with approval by the Watch Commander.

Attend & actively participate in team meetings, department meetings, agency meetings & other committee meetings as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related with current BBS registration as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC.

Must have at least two (2) years’ experience working with staff in an institution or in a similar environment.

Experience preferred in community-based organizations.

Experience with Dual Diagnosis and educated in Trauma-informed care.

Must remain flexible and easily adapt and respond to crisis situations.

Ability to maintain a clear and focused outlook under pressure.

Willingness to work in a juvenile justice detention facility.

Willingness to take on new challenges and develop new skills.

Affinity for problem-solving and critical thinking.

Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.

Conditions of Employment :

Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.

Candidates/employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy.

Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver’s license and valid auto insurance policy.

Physical Demands :

Ability to work under deadlines, various projects, and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.

Moves throughout the building.

Moves, raises, or lowers objects or equipment up to 50 lbs.

Transports objects from 20 to 50 lbs. across the facility for various needs.
