Spectrum Software Technology (SST) is currently seeking a Software Engineer for our civil aviation programs. BS or higher in related field with 10+ years of experience, or 15+ years of experience without degree. Must have strong Java EE/Jakarta EE experience. The position is based at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s William J. Hughes Technical Center adjacent to the Atlantic City International Airport, New Jersey. Hybrid with 1-2 days per week remote.Join SST - Shape the Future
Essential Job Functions:
Install new Design Java EE/Jakarta EE software using object-oriented design patternsDesign, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain algorithmic and mathematical solutionsDevelop applications to solve highly complex technical challengesDevelop test harnesses to support software testingProvide software support for a real-time air traffic management systemDebug software problems and provide solutionsDevelop software requirementsDocument verification and validation of solution sets and protocolsImprove operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and proceduresEnsure compliance with software standardsDegree Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree (in computer science, engineering, or mathematics) + 10 yrs. related experience or 15+ years of experience without degreeEssential Qualifications:
Experience using Java /J2EE, Java EE/Jakarta EE applicationsExperience using C/C++, PERL, Bash Shell Scripting, and PythonExperience with Linux Red Hat Software Suite, IBM Rational Team Concert, IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management, GitHub, Docker, and/or AnsibleExperience implementing GUIs with SwingExperience with ORM frameworks (Eclipselink, Hibernate)Experience implementing various software life cycles including Agile/ScrumExperience with various software verification approaches including TDD, ATDD and BDDExtensive knowledge of SQL, XML JSON, YAML, and experience with relational databasesDemonstrated strength in solving complex problemsCloud experience/certifications a plusAgile experience a plusMust be authorized to work in the USSST offers competitive salaries and 100% paid benefits including health, vision, & dental insurance that start day one. 401K with match.
