The selected candidate will assist in the processing and curation of materials from current projects in our on-island laboratory.Hire Type:

Availability to work full-time, as neededResponsibilitiesCleaning, sorting, counting, and weighing cultural materialArtifact cataloging materials to include bagging and tagging sorted itemsData entry of cultural materialsPrepare cultural materials for long-term curationOther duties as neededRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related fieldSuccessful completion of an archaeology field school or demonstrated equivalent experienceArchaeological laboratory experienceFamiliarity with prehistoric and historic artifact types in Puerto RicoBilingual (English and Spanish) speaking, reading, and writing abilities a plusResides in Puerto RicoPhysical and Mental Requirements and Work EnvironmentRegular work in the on-island laboratory is required, which necessitates ability to travel/drive a vehicle to this location.Some laboratory work may require the ability to complete physically demanding tasks including carrying loads up to 30 pounds or more and standing or sitting in one place for long hours.Must understand and follow health and safety protocols with respect to possibly contaminated materials.Must be able to follow instructions from laboratory supervisor and organize one’s own work; recognize and record scientific data; observe social and professional interactions and respond appropriately.
