Position SummaryThe Sr. Staff Accountant will work on assigned monthly tasks and assist with month end close and financial statement and supporting schedule preparation by following proper accounting procedures. All financial information will be processed in accordance to JSOX compliance. The Sr. Staff Accountant will be expected to prepare reports in a timely and accurate manner. This position will be required to assist in special projects and reports that are requested by the plant and corporate finance.

Position Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly journal entriesReconcile general ledger account and follow-up on variances to clear them.Participate in and assist with special projects or reporting related to capital, work orders, inventory, costing, and audit requestsPrepare fixed asset additions, disposals, and transfers, and maintain required records relating to additions, disposals and capital projectsAbility to close manufacturing work ordersAssist in preparation of annual budgets, forecasting and month-end closing activitiesControl finished goods and raw materials inventoriesReviewing costing for current products, and assist in costing new productsResponsible for accounts payable and payroll backupAssist with fixed asset inventory managementPrepare plant KPI and environmental reportsWork with designated personnel on capital spending projectionsReview and audit purchase card spending and reportsAnswer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting dataAnalyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying informationSupport internal control reviewsImplement best practices, standards and procedures in all accounting functions and activities.Update and maintain job knowledge by participating in educational and/or training opportunities.All other duties as assignedThis role may also be required to work overtime or weekends in order to meet deadlines.

Position QualificationsBachelor's Degree with a concentration in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.4 to 6 years' experience in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.Must be proficient in ExcelHigh degree of communication skillsUsed to working in fast moving environments providing accurate and timely information to a high standardAbility to analyze data and provide recommendationsExperience in a manufacturing environment desired, (food and beverage preferred but not required)Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred, but not required)This job operates mainly in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.This role may also be required to work overtime or weekends in order to meet deadlines.
