Surgical Tech- Non-Certified (FT- 0.9 FTE, Day Shift)

Position Summary:Surgical Technologist Non-Certified are allied health professionals, who are an integral part of the team providing surgical care to patients. Surgical Technologists function in the role of scrub person. Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of the surgeon and the R.N. to ensure that the O.R. environment is safe, equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.Minimum Qualifications:Required:High School Diploma or EquivalentGraduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program; or equivalent military surgical technologist programAmerican Heart Association BLSPreferred:Certified Surgical Technologist1 year surgical technologist experience in acute care operating roomEssential Job Functions:Maintenance of strict aseptic technique.Demonstrates knowledge and judgement in meeting the needs of the surgical patient.Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, solutions needed for procedure.Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to operation and at appropriate intervals per policy.Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.Helps in draping the sterile field.Passes instruments, etc. to surgeon/assistant during procedure.Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.Prepares sterile dressings.Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work in a busy and stressful environmentAbility to work varied shiftsStrong emotional intelligence, interpersonal and teamwork skillsDemonstrates sound judgement, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all timesCreativity, problem analysis and decision makingDetail oriented, organizational skills and the ability to prioritizeExercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentialityPhysical Requirements:Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.) Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.)Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.Exposures:Tasks Include Potential Exposure:
