Senior Engineer, Design Electronics

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES / RESPONSABILIDADES
  1. Serve as the SPA for new electronics modules designed within components group (hardware, software, PCB)
  2. Work with the Electronics Contract Liaison to increase electronics competency.
  3. Gather necessary design/electronics requirements and specifications from internal and external customers, and record using the technical assumptions, requirements and specifications (TARS) process.
  4. Manage and execute the Component Engineering deliverables (e.g. concepts, CAD models, drawings, engineering analysis, engineering documents, etc.) and ensure 1) quality of all deliverables prior to their release; 2) assignments are completed on-time and at or below budget/engineering cost targets and 3) deliverables meet or exceed internal and external customer performance expectations.
  5. Create issues to communicate work assignments and document issue resolution and closure within database.
  6. Coordinate and/or support all necessary internal, customer and supplier meetings, including technical reviews, cross functional team (CFT), packaging, DFMEA, quality, change control, program management team (PMT), builds, teardowns, etc.
  7. Obtain necessary customer part numbers and engineering change notices from Program Management. In addition, obtain the necessary customer approvals on the various engineering documents (e.g. drawings, DVP&R, etc.).
  8. Creating and releasing concepts (PDC, connector, and terminals) that offer improvements in cost, quality and performance over proceeding generations.
  9. Provide CAD and Engineering support to fellow associates when required.
  10. Abide by all policies regarding EEO, Safety and Quality.

KNOWLEDGE / CONOCIMIENTO- Describe any knowledge or skill (eg, technical, scientific, administrative, managerial) which the position requires.

Education and Experience / Educacin y Experiencia:
  • Bachelor degree Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years automotive experience in product design, manufacturing or quality
  • Minimum 8 years experience with electronics PCB design, including the application of hardware and software development.
  • Minimum 8 years experience working directly on design and engineering disciplines such as 8D, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.
  • Minimum 8 years of working experience with either PADs, Altium, OrCAD or other similar PCB software.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with Power Distribution Center (PDC) single function electronics design and development
Skill/ knowledge requirements / Habilidades y conocimientos requeridos:
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments with high quality and on-time completion.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of design and engineering disciplines (8D, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.).
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
  • Medium physical activity - ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
