Job Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing and managing all nursing operations within the skilled nursing facility. The DON ensures that the facility provides high-quality care to residents, complies with all regulatory standards, and maintains a positive and supportive work environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities


  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the facility adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations, including those related to Medicare, Medicaid, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Quality of Care: Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided to residents.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise nursing staff, including registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
  • Clinical Oversight: Provide clinical oversight and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring that they deliver appropriate and effective care.
  • Resident Assessment: Oversee the assessment and evaluation of residents' health status and care needs.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of resident care, including medical records, incident reports, and other required paperwork.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with residents, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the nursing department's budget.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required
  • Active RN license in Washington State
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility, with at least 2 years in a management role
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality improvement methodologies
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment
