POSITION SUMMARY:Provide professional nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. To collaborate with other members of the health care delivery team including physicians, to deliver quality health care.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process.2. Participates and cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvement processes.3. Supports, maintains and provides an environment which is supportive of quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel.4. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.5. Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patients right to privacy by protecting confidential information.6. Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on a total assessment and the age of the patient.7. Evaluates and documents patient response; monitors and recognizes changes in physiological and psychosocial status; takes appropriate action based on assessment of the patient.8. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, qualify of care or the services delivered.9. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.10. This unit is designated to accommodate the critically ill adult and geriatric patient requiring specialized intensive monitoring and nursing care. The scope of care encompasses the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of patients with the potential for, or the presence of a life threatening condition. These conditions may be medical or surgical in nature, as well as either acute or chronic. Patients admitted to this unit are in need of advanced technological equipment, as well as the advanced skills of the staff. The objective of the ICU staff, in collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary health care team, is to begin their process of returning the patient to his/her optimal level of functioning.The Intensive Care Unit is a 20-bed unitlocated on the 1st floor of HCA Gulf Coast Hospital. This unit is designated to accommodate critically ill adult and geriatric patients who have undergone surgical procedures such as cardiac, thoracic, vascular or neurological or who have intensive cardiac or respiratory medical needs.The objective of the ICU staff, in collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary health care team, is to return the patient to a level of functioning appropriate for transfer to a less intensive environment for continuation of care and service.

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is a 238-bed acute care hospital. For 40 years, we have served Bay County and the surrounding communities. We are an accredited facility offering comprehensive care. This includes advanced cardiac assessment and treatment. We offer certified women's services. Our hospital has dedicated spaces for adult and pediatric emergency services. We are certified in Advanced Primary Stroke Care. Our hospital is accredited as a Comprehensive Breast Care Center. We are the area's only Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation. Other services that we offer include orthopedic care and joint replacement, robotic surgery, cardiac, vascular, and interventional services. We are home to the only Pediatric ER in the community. We have the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the region. Together, we continue to raise the bar in healthcare.
