AltaGas - Senior Analyst, FP&A Technology

Reporting to the FP&A Technology Lead, the FP&A Technology and Data Lead/Specialist plays a key role in designing, developing, and implementing technology and data tools and solutions and other process improvement activities for the planning and reporting activities performed by Midstream FP&A and Finance. The successful implementation and sustainment of these new technologies and processes will be an essential element in insight and actionable analysis of the Midstream business and in building trust in reported information. This is a new position at AltaGas, and I will be involved in the implementation of a new Integrated Business Planning technology solution.

You Will:
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert and drive the implementation of the next generation of planning software as part of the Integrated Business Planning project. This will include working with external and internal experts and stakeholders to plan, design, implement, and sustain the new technology, as well as accompanying processes
  • Provide expertise to the Midstream Finance team on current and upcoming best practices in data analytics, including - sourcing, use, and presentation of available data
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with other ALA internal specialists, including corporate and Midstream teams
  • Identify and implement projects to improve the quality and timeliness of information available to business through process improvement and leveraging technology
  • Participate in identified data improvement projects (IBP, MAP, etc.) and focus on existing systems and processes (Allegro, PowerBI)
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and provide thought leadership on their potential application within the midstream business
  • Develop an understanding of information and process flows to assist the FP&A team in developing timely, accurate, and meaningful performance analyses, business outlooks, and key performance indicators
  • Provide indirect leadership and coaching to stakeholders and contributors working on the implementation of the planning tool and other process improvement initiatives.


You Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business management/commerce, mathematics, computer science, economics, or business with a data analysis focus preferred
  • 7+ Years experience in financial planning and analysis, data analysis, or a similar role, ideally in a Midstream business
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, reporting, and analysis, ideally in a midstream, commercial, or trading business
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform, Excel, and other data visualization and automation tools
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance, and meet tight deadlines

  • Identified interest in leveraging new technology to optimize processes and access to data in areas such as accounting, finance, and FP&A
