$135,000 - $150,000Position Overview:

The Senior Construction Estimator will play a pivotal role in the preparation and submission of detailed and accurate cost estimates for various construction projects, ensuring competitive and profitable bids that align with organizational objectives and industry standards. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:

Lead the development of detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.Oversee the entire estimating process, from initial client inquiry and bid preparation to final submission and contract negotiation.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements.Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.Implement estimating policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in the estimating process.Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize project budgets.Prepare and present detailed bid proposals, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and project schedules.Monitor and update cost databases, ensuring up-to-date pricing information and industry trends are reflected in estimates.Provide support and guidance to junior estimators and project teams on estimating practices and procedures.Daily Duties:

Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify key requirements, risks, and opportunities.Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information, clarify project requirements, and develop accurate cost estimates.Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop bid proposals, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and project schedules.Monitor and update cost databases, ensuring up-to-date pricing information and industry trends are reflected in estimates.Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize project budgets.Maintain accurate and up-to-date estimating records and documentation, including cost databases, bid proposals, and project files.Provide support and guidance to junior estimators and project teams on estimating practices and procedures.Participate in bid review meetings, presenting detailed cost estimates and addressing any questions or concerns from stakeholders.Weekly Duties:

Conduct weekly meetings with project teams to review ongoing estimates and address any issues or concerns.Update the estimating schedule and ensure all deadlines are met.Review and analyze feedback from completed projects to identify areas for improvement in future estimates.Provide training and support to junior estimators through regular check-ins and mentoring sessions.Collaborate with the procurement team to review and update supplier and subcontractor pricing.Monthly Duties:

Prepare monthly reports on the status of all bids and estimates, including win rates and reasons for any unsuccessful bids.Analyze trends in estimating accuracy and adjust processes as necessary to improve precision.Conduct a thorough review of cost databases to ensure all information is current and reflective of market conditions.Meet with senior leadership to discuss upcoming projects, strategic goals, and resource needs.Evaluate the effectiveness of estimating software and tools, recommending updates or new solutions as needed.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Timeliness and accuracy of cost estimates:

Achieve an accuracy rate of at least 95% in cost estimates.Complete 85% of cost estimates within the allocated time frame.Win rate of bids:

Maintain a win rate of at least 35% of submitted bids.Efficiency and effectiveness of the estimating process:

Reduce the cycle time of the estimating process by 10% annually.Implement at least 5 process improvements per year that streamline estimating practices.Client and stakeholder satisfaction:

Achieve an average satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5 in client and stakeholder surveys.Resolve 90% of client and stakeholder issues related to estimating within 5 business days.Contribution to organizational goals and objectives:

Contribute to an annual revenue growth of at least 10% through successful bids.Identify and implement cost-saving measures that reduce project costs by at least 5% annually.Maintain a record of zero significant estimating errors that impact project outcomes negatively.
