Right now, we are looking for a Technical Artist for Games Studio.

Role Description:

As a Technical Artist, you will assist in the identification and optimization of game content to ship efficient AAA quality games. The Technical Artist (TA) acts as a bridge between the artists and engineers. They are considered part of the art team and work closely with artists, project managers, SEs, and the rest of the TA team. The main areas of responsibilities include art production workflows, tools, pipelines, asset optimization/integration, and shader development. TAs are expected to assume ownership over any technical issues that arise on their project and drive them to resolution. This often includes delegating to/mentoring more junior staff on the team.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain a robust production pipeline that optimizes the workflow for artists, animators, and developers, ensuring the seamless integration of assets from creation to implementation.

Create and extend workflows to improve the art team’s efficiency. This could include Python, in both Houdini and Maya, along with standalone scripts and internal proprietary tools.

Support the content team in debugging issues with the game, tools, etc.

Day-to-day Art and Tech team support.

Assist other team members in achieving their tasks more efficiently.

Documentation of systems and art pipeline.

Document and iterate on how to improve the process relating to performance optimization of art assets.

Handle and maintain art specific tools.

Help, train, and guide other Technical Artists.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Technical Artist in the video game or architectural visualization industry.

Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming (C++, C#, Python, or similar languages).

Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.

Strong understanding of real-time lighting techniques.

Experience in developing and optimizing shaders (HLSL, GLSL).

Ability to use profiling tools and solve performance issues.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Expert knowledge on one 3D package (Maya, 3DS Max, or Blender) for production.

Character Rigging tools and pipeline experience.

Ability to create 3D art pipelines and document processes.

Understand how to optimize game assets and levels.

Self-motivated towards solving creative problems.

Able to identify inefficiencies and create scripts to automate processes.

Strong understanding of rendering budgets and other technical constraints related to performance in real-time engines.

Ability to adapt rapidly to new or changing technology with an interest in finding ways to evolve and improve the environment creation pipeline.

Solid organization skills with adherence to file structures, naming conventions, and other established protocols.

Be able to work with tight deadlines and constraints and the ability to embrace change.

Clearly communicate updates and properly escalate concerns to the appropriate team member(s) and manager(s).

Ability to give and receive critiques for art and not take it too personally.

Pluses:

Understand PBR.

Character Rigging tools and pipeline experience.

Experience with scripting languages (MEL script, PyMel, or equivalents) and shading languages/networks.

Experience with cloth, hair, facial animation, shaders, or other specialized areas of technical art.

Experience with Particle systems such as Cascade, Niagara, or PopCornFX.

Experience shipping console game titles including dealing with first-party certification processes.

Ability to solve problems independently.

Experience using Jira & Confluence.

Experience with Perforce.

Passion for video games and building them!
