The WTCC Quality Specialist - Reports directly to the WTCC Quality Engineering and Audit Manager and is responsible to conduct WTCC commissioning & operations independent audit and assessment activities conducted by the WTCC QA Department, including maintenance activities, as appropriate. Also, provides departmental support to ensure QA, QE, and QC activities are planned, prepared, conducted, and documented in accordance with approved WTP programs and procedures for WTP Facilities, including Low Activity Waste (LAW), Balance of Facilities (BOF), Effluent Management Facility (EMF), and the Analytical Laboratory (Lab) (LBL) structures, systems and components (SSCs).

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
  • As a QA Auditor obtaining and maintaining qualification as a WTP Program QA Auditor and Lead Auditor;
  • Under the guidance of the QA Audit Supervisor or assigned Audit Team Leader, plan, perform and report on the results of assigned QA Audits and Assessments;
  • Verifying the adequacy, implementation, and effectiveness of the WTP QA program for activities and report the results to management;
  • Develop and execute risk-based quality assurance audit and surveillance checklists;
  • Ensure that deficiencies and enhancements identified by the QA Audit group are appropriately documented
  • Assist with preparation of internal quality assessment related procedures;
  • Follow up on corrective actions for QA-identified issues to verify adequacy and sustainability;
  • Assist in the development of and maintain metrics related to the Quality Audit group's scope of work;
  • Lead Peer Reviews of QA work products before completion;
  • Lead QA related projects: HPI initiatives, Causal Analysis Participation, Quality process problem solving, etc.;
  • Develop job related instructions and tools for improvement in group performance;
  • Assist in tracking the generation and issuance of various QA/QC documentation Also, provide status updates within the department, and to the Project as a whole;
  • Actively maintain visibility on project schedules to aid in the scheduling and coordination of QA, QE, and QC departmental functions;
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment;

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS

Education: Associate's or higher degree related to science in engineering, architecture, technology or equivalent education or specific training in area of expertise from an accredited university or college

Experience: At least 2+ years of operations, engineering, and/or technical auditing/assessment experience or equivalent. In Lieu of a degree, 6 years of experience in operations, engineering, and/or technical experience or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with nuclear programs and/or Department of Energy sites is strongly desired but not required.
  • Previous Hanford Site experience is preferred but not required.
  • Current or Previous NQA-1 Auditor and/or Lead Auditor is preferred but not required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $76,393.70 - $114,972.97 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.
