The Broad’s mission is to make contemporary art accessible to the widest possible audience. Founded in 2015 on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of special exhibitions and innovative live events, all within a landmark building designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The Broad is home to the Broad collection, one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art, which continues to grow as new artists and artworks are added. The museum is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has been loaning collection works to museums around the world since 1984. To create greater public access, The Broad will break ground on a 55,000 square-foot expansion in early 2025.ABOUT THE POSITIONReporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Finance Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting all teams to meet The Broad's internal and external financial reporting obligations. This position is responsible for reviewing all payables and payroll transactions, preparing financial statements, reconciling general ledger accounts including investments, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Reporting and AnalysisPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsAssist in accounting oversight of the investment portfolio, including analysis, reconciliation, and performance reportingAccounting OperationsPrepare and review monthly journal entriesConduct monthly general ledger reconciliations, including bank, fixed asset, prepaid and deferred activityProcess investment transactionsPrepare and submit quarterly sales tax returnsReview and approve bi-weekly payroll reportsSpecial Projects and SupportExecute financial special projects as neededProvide support to the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance in accounting and investment functionsCompliance and Risk ManagementAssist with insurance renewal applicationsEnsure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Support regulatory reporting requirements.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and or minimum 4 years of senior level accounting in a complex institution.5+ years of experience in financial reporting and analysisProficiency in preparing GAAP-compliant financial statementsStrong analytical skills with the ability to handle large volumes of dataExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalProficiency in Microsoft Office suiteExperience in non-profit accounting (preferred)ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONSApproach work with integrity and honesty.Support and demonstrate the museum’s culture of developing a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible environment for staff, contract staff, vendors, and visitors.All Broad employees are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to certain exemptions as required by law. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background and reference check.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to remain stationary as well as frequently move around public areas of the museum for extended periods of time.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is performed both inside the museum and outdoors. This role requires both remaining stationary as well as frequently moving about the museum galleries to assist visitors through the museum, protect the safety of the artwork, answer questions, and provide a range of information to guests.SCHEDULEWork is usually performed onsite between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
