The RoleOncology Research at Moderna is seeking a talented and motivated co-op to join our efforts in developing new mRNA-based drugs for cancer therapy. The Co-op will use molecular biology and immunology techniques to characterize Moderna’s mRNA products, their activity, and/or relevant biomarkers in vitro and in vivo to support early preclinical research, IND-enabling studies, and/or translational research. The Co-op will work on an individual project that is important to Moderna Oncology’s mission with support from an experienced mentor who will provide guidance on projects and career.Our spring co-op program is from 21st January-20th June 2025.
All applicants must be available for the entire duration of the program.Here’s What You’ll DoReceive training in lab research techniques and learn how to design, execute studies, and perform data analysisGain knowledge of preclinical cancer models and toxicology modelsPerform and/or support experiments and assays such as immune cell isolation, cell culture, ELISA/MSD, flow cytometry, cell-based functional and reporter assays, sample processing and analysis for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studiesUse Moderna’s mRNA products to demonstrate expression and characterize activity of the immuno-oncology therapeutic proteins of interest in relevant in vitro and/or in vivo experimental systemsMaintain an organized work area and electronic lab notebookAnalyze experimental data and present your work at group and team meetingsHere’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)Biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioengineering, and related majors are encouraged to apply.Previous co-op experience a plusTechnical experience in the following areas is preferred: tissue culture, cell transfection, protein detection methods (MSD, ELISA), assay development and troubleshootingPrior experience in flow cytometry a plusThe candidate should be self-motivated and possess the desire to drive a project to completion.
