The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Director of Philanthropic Asset Management for the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Advancement, the Director of Philanthropic Asset Management is responsible for directing administration of campus advancement services and business operations.

Responsibilities

This position facilitates gift and endowment fund formation and maintains fund utilization through relationships between central office, campus advancement and campus business managers, all while ensuring compliance with donor intent. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leadership & Compliance:

Leads a team of Advancement professionals that complete accurate gift recording, maintains data integrity, produces correct and timely data reports, fulfills ACE related projects as assigned by Central Office and troubleshoots gift processing and database issues proficiently. Assists Vice Chancellor and leadership team in the strategies and implementation to drive success. Manages scholarship program including the Award Management software. Leads ongoing and regular Award Management governance and user groups which may include college-based business managers, Financial Aid Office, scholarship committee chairs/members, and IT. Attends scholarship committee and business manager meetings as requested to offer support on fund balances and scholarship criteria. Ensures scholarship data is accurately logged. Directs gift utilization tracking for campus gift and endowment funds. Works closely with the campus executive vice chancellor of finance providing fund balances and forecasting. Closely works with UTFI central office including facilitation of data pulls and interpretation. Serves as an on-campus leader in working with UTHSC Office of Finance to correctly match donor gift intentions (gift agreements) with proper gift funds.

Database Management:

Manages new fund requests, campaign codes, and online giving link requests for the campus advancement team. Oversees data requests (constituents lists, event attendees, reports, mailing, etc.) from DOs, colleges, scholarship committees and campus and Advancement leadership. Coordinates with Donor Relations on endowed fund and annual reporting. Develops and conducts training, resources, and documentation for Advancement team, business managers, and partners across campus. Delivers special requests for comparative data for national surveys. Coordinates with Central Office Advancement team to support database development, change and usage. Initiates collaboration with multiple teams, specifically Donor Relations Executive Director, to provide all team members with seamless service to support strategies and use of data for fundraising efforts, events, progress reporting, and acknowledgement/recognition.

Business Operations:

Evaluates technology and systems to optimize use and efficiency of tools that support the Advancement team. Works with campus IT to upgrade, install, and troubleshoot technology. Supervises facility environments to ensure team member safety; proper space use; supply, equipment, and furniture inventory; employee onboarding and exiting; open communication with UTFI invoicing department. Develops space use plans when needed. Participates on position recruitment committees for Advancement team, participates in all HR conversations including personnel recognition, staff retention, and dual position coverage.

Required Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree

5+ years of experience in a development or accounting role, such as fundraising, sales, marketing, human resources or financial planning

2+ years of supervisory experience

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Preferred Education And Experience

Master’s Degree

7+ years of experience in a development or accounting role, such as fundraising, sales, marketing, human resources, or financial planning
