THE CITY OF EUREKA IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A FULL TIME POLICE OFFICERFOR THE EUREKA POLICE DEPARTMENT ELIGIBILITY LIST.

Applicants for the eligibility list must have passed their 21st birthday but not passed their 35th birthday on the date the final eligibility list is posted, except as otherwise provided by statute. Proof of date of birth will be required to be submitted with application.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Applicants will be required to pass the State of Illinois POWER test. A link to that test can be found here: https://www.ptb.illinois.gov/media/1755/new-power-test-chart-2023.pdf

Applicants that pass the POWER test will be required to take a written and oral exam prior to placement of the final eligibility roster. Applicants may also be required to take a medical exam, physical, psychological and drug screen prior to employment.

THE CITY OF EUREKA IS ALSO ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A FULL TIME ALTERNATIVE ELIGIBILITY LIST (COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS LATERAL TRANSFER).

All persons must meet the following criteria to be considered for placement of the alternative eligibility register pursuant to Public Act 95-931 effective 1/1/09.

Certification of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a certified full time police officer, and

Previous continuous service as a full-time police officer in the State of Illinois for a minimum of two years, and

Currently working as a fully sworn police officer or having been employed as a fully sworn police officer within the past three months, and

In good standing in the police department in which the person currently serves or separated from in good standing with no adverse employment action, and

Eligible to be granted a waiver of basic training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

The deadline for accepting applications will be September 30th at 3:30 pm.
