WHAT IS THE
INDEPENDENT OFFICE OF APPEALS (AP) DIVISION?
A description of the business units can be found at:Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:Independent Office of AppealsCase and Operations SupportSpecialized Exam Prog and RefCollection AppealsExamination AppealsThe following are the duties of this position at the full working level:Holds conferences and negotiates issues with taxpayers/representatives to resolve tax disputes in a fair and impartial manner.Advises and coaches team members regarding their team assignments.Communicates and fosters dialogue with peers, customers, and partners.
Requirements
Conditions of EmploymentTelework Eligible Positions : Employees must meet and sustain IRS telework eligibility requirements.Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.Must successfully complete a background investigation.Employment of any candidate selected for this position may be conditional on classification and/or audit of federal tax returns.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.OR
One year of graduate education in a related field of study.OR
Superior Academic Achievement may be met by having a Bachelor's degree.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two years of progressively higher-level education.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-14:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-15:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Additional Information
A 1-year probationary period is required.This is a bargaining unit position.Tour of Duty: Day Shift - Start and stop times between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
