West Virginia State University:

West Virginia State University (WVSU) is a public-land grant institution, founded in 1891 as a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The University serves approximately 3,500 students and is committed to innovative teaching and learning, research and service. WVSU offers 23 undergraduate and seven graduate degrees through its four colleges and competes in athletics at the NCAA Division II level.

Position Description

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, the Admissions Recruiter will manage all phases of recruitment, admissions, and enrollment functions within assigned regional and national territories. Develop and sustain relationships with high school guidance counselors and community college coordinators to recruit prospective students.

Responsibilities for the Admissions Counselor

Manage and execute all aspects of recruitment and admissions strategies using an integrated data-driven enrollment management methodology.

Establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, high school guidance counselors, and community college coordinators.

Utilize the customer relations management (SLATE) system to manage communication with prospective students.

Engage prospective students through written and telephone communication.

Maintain communication with high schools and community college contacts through various channels.

Attend and represent the University at national and regional college fairs, requiring travel and overnight stays.

Coordinate visits to high schools and community colleges to generate student interest.

Provide presentations to prospective students and other stakeholders.

Organize and manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Maintain records and demonstrate proficiency in data entry and management systems.

Exhibit superior communication skills and customer service orientation.

Be willing to work an unconventional schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for the Admissions Counselor

Bachelor's Degree Required; Master’s Degree Preferred.

At least two years of admissions experience or equivalent student services experience.

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable.

Salary Statement

Salary ranges from $35,000.00 - $38,000.00, commensurate with experience.
