A local, successful electrical contracting company in Charlotte is looking to bring on an experienced Senior Estimator. This company has a 75 year history building across The Carolinas including numerous hotels, data centers, and entertainment buildings. The Senior estimator will be joining a close-knit team led by the Preconstruction Manager, and will oversee 4-5 projects weekly with estimating bids and design.

Job Details:

We are seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Senior Electrical Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing comprehensive electrical estimates for construction projects, analyzing proposals and requirements, and coordinating with other team members to ensure all estimates are accurate and competitive. This position is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to advance their career in the construction industry, specifically in electrical contracting.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems in construction projects.
  • Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to explain estimates and proposals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an estimator in the electrical contracting sector.
  • Proficiency in electrical construction and electrical estimating.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and the prices of materials and labor.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office and estimating software.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions based on information gathered and analyzed.
  • Professional certification in estimating is a plus.
