Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Packaging Development to join our team in the Manufacturing industry. This is a unique opportunity to lead and manage all aspects of packaging development, from inception to implementation. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating innovative packaging solutions that meet both our business objectives and our commitment to sustainability.

Responsibilities

The Director of Packaging Development will be responsible for the following:

1. Leading the packaging development process by collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, supply chain, and manufacturing.
2. Utilizing technical packaging expertise to design, test, and implement new packaging solutions that enhance product integrity, improve customer experience, and drive cost efficiencies.
3. Applying Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize packaging processes, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
4. Ensuring all packaging meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Collaborating with suppliers and external partners to source innovative packaging materials and technologies.
6. Developing and managing the packaging development budget.
7. Driving continuous improvement initiatives in packaging to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve sustainability.
8. Providing strategic direction and leadership to the packaging development team.
9. Keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in packaging technology, materials, and processes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Director of Packaging Development position will possess the following:

1. A Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. A Master's degree will be considered an advantage.
2. A minimum of 10 years of experience in packaging development within the Manufacturing industry, preferably in a leadership role.
3. Demonstrated experience with technical packaging, consumer packaging, and CPG manufacturing.
4. Proven track record of applying Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvement.
5. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and innovatively.
7. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. A strong commitment to sustainability and a passion for innovative packaging solutions.
10. Ability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.
