Job Details

The Manufacturing/Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and assisting with daily activities related to the maintenance of production equipment, ovens, incinerators, and machinery used in coating steel coils. This includes managing process equipment, HVAC systems, building lighting, security, and overall facility appearance. The role involves supervising employees who repair and maintain the facility, equipment, and machinery.

This position requires a blend of technical expertise and knowledge of plant systems to lead the maintenance team, focusing on equipment reliability, facility upkeep, and supporting production systems. The manager will also be responsible for developing technical talent and ensuring efficient use of resources across all shifts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead by example to promote a culture of safety and cleanliness.

Provide maintenance support for production equipment and facility systems, including preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance.

Coach, develop, and manage the productivity and performance of mechanics and electricians across all shifts.

Maintain a predictive and preventative maintenance program for equipment and machinery.

Manage inventory control for maintenance spare parts.

Arrange and oversee third-party contractor support as required.

Prepare budgets and secure estimates and cost quotes as needed.

Identify root causes of maintenance-related failures and implement improvement strategies.

Enforce discipline and accountability in adherence to site and departmental policies and procedures.

Provide technical support and leadership for plant safety and environmental programs.

Serve as an on-call contact for high-priority issues and emergencies.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Electrical/Controls Engineering preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing facilities/equipment, with a proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a hands-on environment.

At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.

Proficiency in writing and troubleshooting PLC/HMI software (RS Logix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, RSView Studio, Panelbuilder 32, RS Networks).

Familiarity with AutoCAD.

Experience programming and interfacing VFDs (A-B, ABB, Yaskawa, Parker) with other devices.

Knowledge of industrial hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Experience with industrial electrical circuitry, including PLC hardware.

Competency in writing and interpreting PLC ladder logic, operational sequences, and startup instructions.

Experience with AC & DC motor drives, PLCs, HMIs, I/O hardware, MCCs, and industrial control networks.

Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety practices and procedures.

Familiarity with IT infrastructure and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.

Understanding of industry codes and standards, particularly NFPA.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and time-management skills.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making abilities.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, specifications, and regulations.

Proficient in MS Office products.

Legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Valid driver's license required.
