Job Details:

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Surgical Physician Assistant with a specialization in Neurosurgery. This is a unique opportunity to work in a high-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where you will be a key player in the surgical team.

Responsibilities:

  • First assist in surgical cases, including spine and cranial cases, offering a high level of expertise and knowledge.
  • Perform history and physicals, ensuring all relevant information is gathered and noted.
  • Write pre and post-operative orders for requesting surgeons, ensuring all instructions are clear and concise.
  • Prescribe medications according to New Jersey state law, ensuring all prescriptions are accurate and appropriate.
  • Maintain board certification, keeping up to date with the latest advancements and techniques in the field.
  • Maintain annual CME requirement, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with attending physicians, fostering a team-oriented approach to patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including attending physician and other PAs, ensuring a cohesive and effective working environment.

Qualifications:

  • A valid New Jersey Physician Assistant license is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in first assist in surgical cases, including spine and cranial cases.
  • Proven ability to perform history and physicals.
  • Experience in writing pre and post-operative orders for requesting surgeons.
  • Strong understanding of pain management.
  • Proven ability to prescribe medications according to New Jersey state law.
  • Must maintain board certification.
  • Must maintain annual CME requirement.
  • Excellent team working skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality patient care, with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction.
