Job Details

Job Responsibilities:

As a Staff Accountant, your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including MIP, Month End, Balance Sheets, Reconciliations, and Grant Accounting.
  2. Participating in financial standard setting and in the forecast process.
  3. Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements and ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  4. Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  5. Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting and managing all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
  6. Working closely with the finance team to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices.
  7. Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role should have the following qualifications:

  1. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree or CPA certification is a significant plus.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Staff Accountant, or similar role, in the finance industry.
  3. Strong knowledge and experience with MIP, Month End, Balance Sheets, Reconciliations, and Grant Accounting.
  4. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  5. Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
  6. High attention to detail and accuracy, excellent analytical abilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  7. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to colleagues who do not have finance backgrounds.
