Are you passionate about making a difference while applying your accounting expertise? Do you want to leverage your skills in sales and use tax, business taxes, federal compliance, annual reporting, and payroll review to help nonprofits achieve their mission? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a dynamic Remote Nonprofit Accountant to join our team, offering flexible hours and the ability to work from anywhere. This position requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in the aforementioned areas.

Responsibilities:

As a Remote Nonprofit Accountant, your responsibilities will be diverse and challenging. They will include:

  1. Managing all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliation in accordance with GAAP.
  2. Preparation and review of sales and use tax, business taxes, and ensuring federal compliance.
  3. Conducting annual reporting and preparing financial statements including balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and statement of cash flows.
  4. Providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, investments, and/or mergers, and pension funds and investments.
  5. Implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures, including developing and updating policies.
  6. Offering guidance to non-profit clients on financial strategy, budgeting, and other areas relevant to their organization.
  7. Staying current with advancements in technology to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy in processing and reporting.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this exciting role, you should possess the following:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. A CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  2. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
  3. Proficiency in accounting software, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  4. In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  5. Exceptional ability to communicate and report complex financial data in an understandable manner.
  6. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  7. Strong problem-solving skills, with a knack for turning complex problems into simple solutions.
  8. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  9. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  10. A passion for nonprofit work and an understanding of the unique financial challenges nonprofits face.
