We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Programmer and Machinist with expertise in operating Vertical Mills and Lathes to join our team at our facility in Benton Harbor, Michigan. As a CNC Programmer and Machinist specializing in Vertical Mills and Lathes, you will play a crucial role in programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts according to blueprints and specifications.

24/7 shifts:

  • A- Sun, Mon, Tues, every other Wed 6am to 6pm (10% differential) (1 opening)
  • B- Sun, Mon, Tues, every other Wed 6pm to 6am (20% differential) (4 openings)
  • C- Thu, Fri, Sat, every other Wed 6am to 6pm (10% differential)(1 opening)
  • D-Thu, Fri, Sat, every other Wed 6pm to 6am (20% differential) (1 opening)
  • M-48 is M-Thu 6am to 4pm (no differential) (4 openings)

Job Details

Requirements:

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining operations and requirements.
  • Utilize CAM software (such as Mastercam or similar) to program Vertical Mills and Lathes, generating toolpaths for machining operations.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job based on specifications.
  • Set up and operate Vertical Mills and Lathes to fabricate parts with tight tolerances.
  • Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect finished parts to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot issues with Vertical Mills and Lathes and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer and Machinist, specializing in Vertical Mills and Lathes, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming and machining techniques, specifically for Vertical Mills and Lathes.
  • Experience with CAM software for generating toolpaths (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, SolidCAM).
  • Familiarity with the setup and operation of Vertical Mills and Lathes.
  • Ability to select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues from various departments.
