Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of wood structures, ensuring they meet all relevant safety codes and regulations. This position requires a deep understanding of wood as a building material, as well as proficiency in structural analysis and design software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structural Design: Develop and design structural systems for various wood structures, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Ensure designs meet all relevant building codes and standards.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate wood materials and components, considering factors such as strength, durability, and sustainability.
  • Analysis and Calculations: Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the safety and stability of wood structures under various loads and conditions.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects. Provide technical guidance and support throughout the construction process.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all designs and construction methods comply with local, state, and national building codes and regulations.
  • Innovation and Sustainability: Stay current with advancements in wood construction techniques and materials. Promote the use of sustainable and innovative practices in all projects.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that construction meets design specifications and quality standards. Identify and address any structural issues that arise during construction.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed engineering reports, drawings, and documentation for each project. Maintain accurate records of all design and construction activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on wood structures.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of wood materials, construction methods, and building codes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to sustainability and innovative engineering practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with mass timber construction and cross-laminated timber (CLT).
  • Knowledge of green building standards (e.g., LEED certification).
  • Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) tools.
