Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 per year

Job Details

This person should have experience with Income and Franchise niche of SALT.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and complete tax projects in a wide variety of industries; provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; and budget management
  • Deliver a full range of State and Local Tax services including tax return preparation and review, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, and counseling clients in defending against state audits
  • Manage multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that analyze income and/or franchise tax to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives, and corporate structures that can reduce the client's tax burden
  • Consult, work with, and service clients to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client
  • Train and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
  • Maintain and expand knowledge in area of expertise, comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, etc.
  • In addition to core income and/or franchise tax opportunities, ability to identify other SALT services

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of relevant tax consulting experience, specific to SALT Income Tax
  • Advanced degree in Tax, such as Masters in Taxation or LLM
  • CPA required
  • Exposure to State and Local Taxes including knowledge in State Income/Franchise Tax, Credits and Incentives, Sales and Use Tax, with Property Tax a plus
  • Broad exposure to financial statement tax provision, Subchapter C, and tax compliance issues, preferred
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills
