We relentlessly pursue medicines to ease the burden of debilitating diseases and disorders, because you deserve brave science.About the Role:Responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of advanced security solutions to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with global IT and teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Principal Cyber Security Engineer will act as a subject matter expert, guiding the organization’s security posture and responding to sophisticated threats across both cloud and on-premises environments.Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):Design and implement robust security architectures for cloud and on-premises environmentsEvaluate and recommend new security technologies and practicesConduct regular user access reviews and implement remediation plansOversee the deployment and management of data loss prevention (DLP) toolsDevelop policies for data encryption, classification, and handlingDevelop and manage Security Operations Center (SOC) playbooks for incident response and threat huntingPerform advanced threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, and risk managementImplement security information and event management (SIEM) solutionsConduct real-time security monitoring and incident triageLead incident response efforts and forensic investigationsProvide expertise in securing SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environmentsEnsure compliance with cloud security frameworks and best practicesMaintain documentation and policies for cloud securityLead efforts to improve network security through continuous monitoring and configuration managementWork closely with global IT and teams to address security threats and vulnerabilitiesProvide mentorship and training to junior security team membersLead cybersecurity projects from conception to implementationSupport internal and external cybersecurity auditsReport on project status, risks, and outcomes to senior managementConduct regular security reviews and recommend improvementsPerform other duties as requiredRequirements:BS/BA degree and 6+ years of related work experience utilizing comprehensive knowledge of cloud network systems and network management tools, as well as extensive experience (minimum 2 years) with Azure and AWS ORMaster's degree and 4+ years of similar experience as noted aboveOne or more professional certifications desired: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)Deep understanding of the organization’s business objectives and servicesAbility to align security initiatives with business goalsStrong communication, leadership, and project management skillsExcellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilitiesHigh attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExtensive experience with EDR, email security, SOC, and incident response processesProficiency with SIEM solutions and advanced security monitoring toolsStrong knowledge of networking fundamentals and security best practicesAdvanced scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for automationRelevant security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, etc.)In-depth knowledge of security solutions including VPNs, email gateways, DLP, IDS/IPS, web proxies, and DNS securityDemonstrated expertise in researching and mitigating current hacking techniques and cybercrimeStrong understanding of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST 800, CIS, etc.)Comprehensive knowledge of Windows and Linux security settings and controlsEqual Opportunity Employer:Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vets employer. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
