About the Department:
Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) engages alumni (~220k), current students, parents, and friends of the University through intellectual, professional, and social activities on campus, around the world, and virtually. ARD raises $600 Million annually to advance UChicago’s mission and values and to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University.
Job Summary:
This role uses best practices and knowledge within Alumni Relations and leads a program designed to engage the alumni community worldwide, increase participation, and advance the objectives of the Alumni Association and the broader University.
Responsibilities:
Assists with the creation and execution of intellectual engagement programming, focusing on strengthening connections between alumni and the University.
Develops a calendar of programs that includes in-person domestic and international events and quick turnaround virtual events.
Develops briefing materials for program participants, moderators, and senior leadership.
Works closely with the communications team to develop promotional materials and outreach strategies.
Coordinates logistics for events, including venue and menu selection, speaker travel, and registration.
Tracks program expenses and maintains accurate records.
Builds strong working relationships with staff across campus.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum two years of professional work experience in journalism, event, meeting, or conference planning.
Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills.
Working Conditions:
This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in-office presence.
Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business.
Work evenings and weekends as needed.
