Job Summary:The Certified Payroll Specialist will manage and oversee the preparation and submission of certified payroll reports for public works projects. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a thorough understanding of prevailing wage laws, and the ability to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. This position will report to the Payroll Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Entry:Enter payroll information into the payroll system accurately and promptly.Input timekeeping data, including hours worked, overtime, and leave taken.Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.Maintain accurate records of hours worked, wages paid, and fringe benefits.Maintain constant communication with all subcontractors and general contractors.Verify employee classifications and wages to ensure they meet prevailing wage requirements.Communication:Communicate with employees to resolve any payroll discrepancies or inquiries.Work closely with the HR department to ensure accurate employee information.Maintain constant communication with all subcontractors and general contractors.Documentation and Reporting:Collect and review timesheets, wage determinations, and other payroll documentation.Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports to contracting agencies and clients.Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to certified payroll reports.Audits and Inspections:Assist with internal and external audits related to certified payroll.Prepare necessary documentation and respond to audit inquiries promptly.Ensure all payroll records are available for inspection by relevant authorities.Review subcontractor reports for discrepancies.

Skills:Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
