You'll be a part of the team supporting our Investigations, Compliance & Privacy practice. You will work on matters related to:Financial investigations including those involving financial statement fraud, asset misappropriation, and corruption.Assessments of complex financial transactions for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) and international financial reporting standards (“IFRS”)Reporting and compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and federal securities lawsYour work will involve a wide range of activities, such as:Develop and assess projections and forecastsCreate financial models incorporating valuation theory such as the development of discounted cash flow (DCF) modelsAnalyze financial transactions for possible fraud and compliance with GAAP or IFRSEvaluating compliance with rules and regulations of the FCPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and the federal securities lawsResearch and analyze factors affecting litigation damages or valuationsReview and summarize materials produced in litigation matters such as depositions and financial statementsReview audit working papers for compliance with professional standardsCommunicate with clients and colleagues in written and oral form including drafting expert reports and presentations to clientsCreate and manage large data setsApply statistical analysisPerform quality control review over work productOrganize documents and work papers, including preparing supporting materials for litigation and valuation reportsTrain and mentor other professional staffThis description is not designed to encompass a comprehensive listing of required activities, duties or responsibilities.What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or mathematics required; Master’s is desirable.A minimum of 10 years’ experience working for an accounting firm conducting independent financial statement audits or working in a professional services firm providing dispute, litigation and/or investigative services. The ideal candidate will have worked in a “Big Four” environment and have performed the foregoing services for a publicly traded companyStrong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to resolve complex accounting problems.The ideal candidate would have obtained a certification such as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, Chartered Financial Analyst or Certified Valuation AnalystWell-developed analytical abilitiesAbility to prepare financial models and cash flow analysesStrong project management skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks, self-prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishFluent oral and written foreign language skills (particularly Spanish) are a plusAbility to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently with a positive and entrepreneurial attitudeA professional demeanor with strong communication and presentation skillsAbility and willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to meet client needsAbility to work well under pressureProficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPointAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice and for extended periods of timeWillingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and in particular as unique projects/needs arise.Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workdayMust become familiar with, and promote and abide by, our Core Values as defined by the AlixPartners’ Code of Conduct and foster an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organizationThe firm offers a comprehensive benefits program including health, vision, dental, disability, 401K, tuition reimbursement, identity theft protection, and mental wellness support.
