Change.org is searching for a
Sr. Director, Design (Head of Design)
to lead and create a more powerful Product Design organization with a focus on quality, process, and empowerment. You will report to our Chief Product Officer. As the head of the Design organization, you’ll define the design strategy and process; ensure we create high-quality, jaw-dropping product design (including shipping a new design system); develop and grow your product design team’s expertise; and help shape the short and long-term product roadmaps.

Key Outcomes:
Define the design strategy and evolve our processes across all the product squads. Embrace and continually improve approaches to deliver the most value to customers as soon as possible.
Ensure the highest quality design, including the shipping of a new design system, to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Develop and grow your team’s expertise in product design, user research, and copywriting.
Influence the product roadmap, both short-term and long-term.
Oversee multiple projects and scale design resources accordingly, ensuring deadlines are met, your org is effective, excellent and inclusive, and team members are set up for success by setting clear and measurable goals.
Increase the eNPS scores of the people you manage.

Mastery of the
product design process
at a B2C software product company serving millions of end users; you’ve been a design leader at a company like Change.org before.
Strong
user science and research
experience skills; you’re a master of synthesizing customer insights into design decisions.
Strong
people management expertise , with a focus on EQ, mentorship, guidance, and asking the right questions; you inspire and motivate people to be their best selves in the workplace, with their best output.
Experience in
0 to 1 design principles;
you know how to start from scratch and ship something meaningful, quickly, to validate hypotheses.
Super communication skills ; you specialize in the craft of storytelling, whether it’s visual, written, or verbal.
Target experience:
A desire to make the world a better place through healthier, more participatory democracies.
10+ years of product design experience at consumer technology companies, with a consumer product used by tens or hundreds of millions of people.
6+ years of experience managing product designers.
Proven results in building and scaling B2C products, both in terms of NPS (or some other satisfaction score) and in terms of quantitative business metrics (e.g. growth in users, retention, revenue, etc.).
A portfolio of previous work demonstrating depth of knowledge in UX strategy, content, interaction, visual design, design thinking, and team collaboration.
Substantive experience leverage user research and insights into new user value within the product experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives and effectively present ideas.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate optimally at all levels of the organization.
Extensive knowledge of design tools like Figma and a working knowledge of how design systems can be built to accelerate customer value.
Proven ability to collaborate deeply with product and engineering partners.

in all other US locations.
