Salary: $145,000 - $200,000 per year

We are a local/regional CPA firm that has been in business for nearly 50 years, and employs around 50 employees in the the Annapolis, MD area.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Audit Director to join our team. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for overseeing all audit activities within the organization and ensuring all financial operations comply with current laws and regulations. This is a unique opportunity to lead in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in audit planning, financial reporting, internal controls, management consulting, and financial accounting.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit program for the organization.
  2. Oversee the complete audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  3. Direct and manage the full audit cycle, including audit planning, audit work, and reporting on audit results.
  4. Review the suitability of internal control design and provide advice and guidance on control aspects of new policies, systems, and processes.
  5. Prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results and document the proposed process.
  6. Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality, and goal achievement.
  7. Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
  8. Maintain open communication with management and audit committee.
  9. Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions.
  10. Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA are highly desirable.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in auditing, finance, or a related field.
  3. Proven experience in audit planning, financial reporting, internal controls, management consulting, and financial accounting.
  4. Strong knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
  5. High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  6. Sound independent judgment.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  9. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and auditing software.
