Today, we serve more than 15,000 people through our integrated programs in six St. Paul neighborhoods.

Program Summary:

Today, Neighborhood House has big dreams and we need help to achieve them. Our organization is ready for the next step in communications and marketing. We are looking for the right person to help us develop a communications and marketing strategy that is based on data analysis and donor trends, as well as people-centered and mission-driven. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Advancement and supervise the graphic designer and a new communications position.

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing & Communications role requires a blend of strategic planning, data analysis, creative development, hands-on execution, and team coaching, with a focus on achieving annual income goals for the good of the organization.

In this role, you and your team will be responsible for analyzing donor trends and past solicitation results in order to develop and implement the organization’s external communications strategy. This includes cross-channel fundraising communications strategy, donor communications, print publications, social media channels, program promotion, and website. Additionally, this position will handle public relations and work closely with the President of Neighborhood House on strategic messaging for all initiatives.

Essential Functions

Using a data-centered approach, develop and implement the strategy for a comprehensive communications and marketing plan for the organization that includes social media, print and e-communications, website.

Manage public relations for the organization, working with the Vice President and President to develop messaging for programs and initiatives.

Oversee the management of the website for accurate and compelling information.

Create and oversee all marketing of programs to current and potential participants and partners.

Direct the successful printing and mailing of all external relations needs, including print newsletter, direct mail solicitations, and promotions.

Coach and supervise Communications & Marketing team, including the graphic designer and the Raiser’s Edge database team.

Prepare and provide reports on results of marketing and solicitation efforts.

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or English, plus a minimum of three years of experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

Ability to monitor communications and marketing trends and leverage the findings for the benefit of the organization.

Experience using data to make strategic decisions related to marketing and communications.

Copywriting or writing experience.

Experience with and understanding of how to use multiple communications platforms, including Mail Chimp, social media channels, and video.

Excellent teamwork and collaboration, ability to motivate and inspire colleagues, donors, and volunteers, set a positive tone, lead by example, and drive results.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently with solid decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
