Job SummaryThe role of the Infection Disease Control Nurse entails overseeing the Infection Prevention and Control Program, aimed at mitigating the transmission of infections and managing outbreaks. Key responsibilities involve gathering, evaluating, and presenting infection-related data and patterns to nursing personnel and healthcare providers. Additionally, the Infection Control Nurse will offer expertise in infection risk evaluations, preventive measures, and control protocols in accordance with regulatory mandates and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Responsibilities Performs job duties independently with minimal supervision, serving as a knowledgeable resource within the organization. Conducts assessments to identify training and development needs. Conducts surveillance for healthcare associated infections and significant organisms. Monitors, evaluates, and documents training activities related to infection control practices. Confirms and investigates potential clusters and outbreaks. Analyzes and interprets data from surveillance activities and evaluates trends. Facilitates discussions with CNA, LPN and RN staff regarding their learning experiences and challenges. Develop, implement, and oversee infection prevention and control policies and procedures. Monitor and investigate known or suspected sources of infections, taking appropriate action to prevent the spread. Educate staff about infection control best practices, ensuring compliance with protocols. Review infection rates and prepare reports for healthcare administrators. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive infection prevention measures. Stay updated on the latest research and best practices related to infection prevention. Participation with QAPI to determine and implement prevention strategies for Infection Control.Education And Experience Requirements Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Active registration as a Nurse in the State of Georgia. Maintain good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing. Minimum of three years' experience practicing nursing as a registered nurse within the past five years. Prior teaching or training experience is advantageous.
