FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Dairy Manager (Part-Time).
Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.

JOB SUMMARY:
The dairy manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a dairy farm or dairy processing facility. This includes managing a team of employees, maintaining high levels of milk production, and ensuring the safety and quality of dairy products
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise daily activities on the dairy farm or processing facilityManage a team of employees and coordinating work schedulesEnsure high levels of milk production and quality controlMaintain farm equipment and facilitiesDevelop and implementing safety protocolsMonitor animal health and implementing preventative measuresOversee milk processing and packagingManage inventory and ordering suppliesMaintain financial records and budgetMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Dairy Science, Agriculture, or related fieldExperience caring for animals and working on a farm.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Communication and interpersonal abilitiesKnowledge of industry regulations and safety proceduresAbility to operate farm equipment and machinery
WORK CONDITIONS:
Occasional travel to pick up farm supplies and attending meetings/training.
Work is done mostly outside or in a climate-controlled environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
Includes sitting, standing, walking, animal catching, heavy lifting (50 and occasionally up to 75 pounds) and repeated bending.
