Job Description
Datavail is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, and passionate MySQL and MariaDB DBA to join our MySQL and MariaDB Global Practice. As a DBA, you will be working on the latest Enterprise and Opensource technologies in the industry. This role requires strong technical database skills, but also requires excellent communication and collaborative skills to help drive customers and internal teams
Required Skills:9+ years overall IT experience, with min 6+ years on MySQL and MariaDB Product SuiteExtensive experience in MySQL 5.7/8.x and MariaDB 10.4/10.5/10.6 both on-premises and CloudHas supported large enterprise environments with complex datasetsWorked in Clustered architecture like InnoDB cluster, Galera Cluster, etcExperience in MySQL and MariaDB Backup, RestoresExperience in Advanced Monitoring SolutionsExperience in Database migrations to the cloudExperienced in Advanced HA Solutions with MySQL, MariaDB and PerconaExperienced in RDS and Aurora MySQL supportExperience in Performance tuning in opensource databasesDatabase Security best practice implementationsExperience in Heterogenous migrations to MySQL/MariaDBExperienced in AWS, Azure, GCP and/or any cloud environmentExperience in data modelling, schema design and optimizationPlanning and architecting database solutions24 X 7 production support experienceKnowledge of Linux and Windows ServersClear Communication
General Experience in the following other areas is required:Worked in customer services environments or in Managed Service Providers/Professional Services ProvidersExtensive experience with installation, management, upgrades, backup and restore of large MySQL and MariaDB database system installationsExperience benchmarking, clustering, and tuning the databases for performance, reliability, high availability, and scalabilityAbility to work with others collectivity, as a TeamScripting in Bash/Perl/JavaScript/PythonPercona Toolkits, PMM, ProxySQL, Orchestrator, Max Scale etcMySQL, MariaDB and AWS, Azure Certifications is a plus "Candidate must either have Professional Certification or obtain within the first 90 days of employment"Knowledge in HTAP and Distributed Database models is a plusAutomation using Ansible Chef, Puppet or IaaC with Terraform/Cloud Formation, etcPreferable Kubernetes/Containers experienceMust have strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skillsMust have experience in MySQL database architecture, logical and physical design,Automation, documentation, shell scripting, Stored procedure programming, query tuning, system tuning, resource contention analysis, backup, and recovery, standby, replication, etcMust have substantial hands-on knowledge on AWS Cloud and Azure CloudUnderstanding of PHP, Perl, and web application frameworkGood knowledge of ITIL FrameworkAbility to lead technical teams and run customer facing meetingsAbility to lead teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure tasks are being completed appropriatelyExperience in an IT service-related supervisory and/or management position will be considered as an additional advantage
