The Senior Consultant, Clinical Variation Reduction will join a team addressing complex issues in the U.S. health system. They will work on transformational solutions for managing clinical operations, focusing on reducing clinical variation to lower costs, enhance quality and safety, and improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities include opportunity analysis, solution design and implementation, and financial measurement. The ideal candidate should be passionate about improving care, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and confidently engage with senior leaders (C-suite), providers, and business partners. You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. while addressing challenging issues.

Primary Responsibilities:Collect, analyze and synthesize, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to inform client recommendationsOversee and/or perform detailed data analytics and financial projections (e.g., Excel, Power BI) and translate findings to operational stakeholdersPerform project management activities, such as monitoring client scope, tracking deliverables, creating status reports, identifying and mitigating risks, managing resource plans, and monitoring successful achievement of project goalsCoordinate internal and/or client teams in a complex and rapidly changing environmentCreate artifacts or deliverables that effectively summarize findings, support fact-based recommendations, and provide appropriate detail to substantiate conclusionsPresent final deliverables to client sponsorsCollaborate with cross-functional teams on project approach, strategies, and work plansAssist in the design and implementation of recommended solutionsSupport the creation of sales pursuit materials and other business development activities (e.g. proposals and Statements of Work)Communicate clear direction and delegate responsibilities to team members when needed, providing management and coachingBuild and manage relationships with client stakeholders and decision-makers, leading with influence to drive change

Required Qualifications:3+ years of experience in healthcare management or business administration consulting and/or system engineering and/or project management3+ years of experience building and creating project/program deliverables with the ability to manage multiple complex and concurrent workstreams1+ years of provider healthcare consulting experience and/or process improvement experience in a provider environmentExperience in clinical operations or a related field, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and developing/implementing innovative solutions in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights to address clinical variationProficiency in managing workplans, budgets, and tracking metrics to assess initiative progress and overall project healthAbility to be a flexible, collaborative team player, with solid interpersonal skills, dedicated to contributing to the desired outcomeProven excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence senior leaders and stakeholders, and leading client meetingsDemonstrated advanced Microsoft Office expertise, specifically Excel and PowerPointDemonstrated solid time management, organizational, and prioritization skills with a proven ability to take initiative and work independently in a dynamic work settingAbility to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:Lean Six Sigma certifications, quality improvement and experience with relevant methodologiesExperience with data management tools and/or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, MicroStrategy)Ability to be highly adept at handling ambiguity, with demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, change management, and risk mediationDemonstrated experience with client account growth and business developmentExperience in clinical transformation, solution design and implementation, resulting in substantial and recurring financial benefit

The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
