Description

Position Reports To : Director of Programs and Educational Services

Classification : Salaried, Non-exempt; Regular full-time

Purpose : Through programming development, the specialist will develop and oversee program experiences for Girl Scouts of all ages that drive internal and external engagement.

Location:

Girl Scout and Volunteer Resource Center, Charleston, WV

Direct Reports:

Seasonal program support staff

Salary: $38,500/yr

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Leverage programs to engage and retain members.

• Develop, coordinate and deliver quality program activities, events and curricula, as driven by market needs.

• Oversee and grow girl leadership programming through the Girl Scout higher awards program, national girl leadership programs, and the council's own older girl programming.

• Manage the council's citizenship and leadership development activities, such as Volunteen programs and community service.

• Cultivates and maintains relationships and program partnerships with volunteers, community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support the council's program strategies.

• Develop and manage the council's volunteer education supplemental learning track that includes, but is not limited to:

o Higher awards

o Girl leadership programs

o Safe activities

• Utilize knowledge of the National Program Portfolio, Safety Activity Checkpoints, council policies and procedures, as well as Girl Scout Mission and Council strategic plan and annual plan of work in all decisions.

• Assists in the development and implementation of council plans to continually evaluate girl outcomes and program results.

• Work with grants and grant-funded programs, as opportunities arise.

• Ensures that program activities are consistent with the Girl Scout mission; ensures Girl Scouts is a welcoming environment for all girls and adults by embodying the Girl Scout way of diversity and inclusiveness.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to assist in the fulfillment of the council's mission and goals.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associates accepted with a minimum of two years' experience in education, event planning, youth programming, community development or non-profit youth services.

• Curriculum development and delivery experience preferred.

• Grant management experience preferred.

Position Requirements:

• Ability to travel throughout council jurisdiction.

• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance

• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include some evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally moves throughout the facility to access file cabinets, office machinery, supplies, etc.

• Occasionally moves items that weigh up to 25 pounds.

• Must be able to sit in a meeting or at a workstation and a computer screen for prolonged periods.
