LVI Associates are seeking full-time, experienced Plan Check Engineers / ICC Plans Examiners. This role involves working with their jurisdictional clients within California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in civil or structural engineering, a thorough understanding of building codes, and excellent communication skills. Apply in to learn more about providing top-notch plan check services and ensuring the safety and compliance of building projects across multiple states.ResponsibilitiesReview plans, calculations, and specifications to ensure compliance with the most current adopted ordinances, laws, and state building codes.Prepare detailed plan review comment letters in accordance with municipal direction and SCA standards.Meet and confer with clients as needed (via phone, email, virtual meeting, or in-person) to clarify plan check comments and provide guidance.Collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive and accurate plan reviews.Stay updated on changes to building codes, ordinances, and laws to ensure ongoing compliance.Provide technical support and advice to clients and colleagues regarding structural and building systems.Minimum QualificationsProfessional Civil or Structural Engineer.ICC Certified Plans Examiner with complete knowledge and full understanding of the International model building codes and standard construction methods.Ability to review all structural systems and additional building systems as needed (i.e., architectural, accessibility, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, and green/sustainability).Minimum 2 years of experience working for an engineering design firm or alternatively 2 (or more) years working as a Plan Check Engineer for a jurisdiction, providing design or plan check reviews for both commercial and residential project types.Basic computer knowledge related to Microsoft Office products and various plan review software such as BlueBeam (or similar AutoCAD-based products).Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited college.Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
