We have a fantastic opportunity for a Desktop and Endpoint Engineering Manager with our top ranked global firm client.
The ideal candidate is responsible for the management of the maintenance and support of all specifications, designs, assemblies and deployments related to the firm desktop images and application delivery platforms on both physical and virtual environments. Responsible for the quality and integrity of application delivery on desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablet devices, including devices not owned by the firm (i.e., BYOD). Coordinates and works closely with the Business Owners and IS Managers to ensure a comprehensive approach is taken and sustained in the presentation of applications to the customers and firm clients. Assures smooth and reliable operation of end-user computer operating systems, along with stable and effective integration of applications and utilities.
What You'll Do:
Strategic management
Manage delivery of products and services within scope and budget from a variety of vendors and contractorsEstablish and document policies, practices, and working procedures needed for the supported applications and services to deliver their intended results and for the customers to make efficient and effective use of technologyProvide ongoing guidance with respect to system usage and trainingParticipate and contribute to new Application evaluations and subsequent due diligenceParticipate in the IS Architecture Review Board as a guiding voice on technologies that fall under the department's purviewCollaborate with the IS Project Management Office to prioritize and plan project activities taking factors such as deadlines and resource requirements into account; prepare comprehensive and well-structured proposals and plans to ensure that projects move to timely and successful completion; use the stipulated systems and processes for creating, tracking and reporting on project plansCollaborate with customers and IS resources to analyze information utilization and user behaviors based on system metrics and customer feedbackPrepare and provide time, cost and resource proposals and supporting materials for all system enhancements and customization work as needed for review and approval by managementImprove and expand provided servicesRead manuals, periodicals, technical reports, and use online services to increase system knowledge and utilizationTechnical
Coordination and management of the design, construction, deployment and maintenance of personal computer operating system images, virtual desktops, and other application delivery platformsOngoing evaluation, selection and effective use of deployment tools/systemsCoordinate with and manage team to work with the appropriate Information Technology groups to ensure deployed systems and applications meet all firm user and client needs and requirementsAct as an Analyst/Consultant and provide systems and applications integration advice and expertise as needed throughout the firm and the departmentAssist and guide the design and development of documentation and training materials to enable IT staff in use of operating system and application deployment systemsManage the design, development, testing and implementation of login scriptsManage the design, development, testing and implementation of GPO settings that directly impact the behavior of end-user applicationsManage the creation, quality and use of test scripts and test plans as needed to effect application unit and regression testing that ensures the usability and stability of desktop and application delivery platformsManage and participate in the design and implementation of software deployment packages and scripts to ensure timely, consistent and successful deployment of new and updated software installations in a highly diverse, international user environmentResponsible for control and coordination of the release management process for the desktopPeriodically audit desktops to help ensure software licensing complianceMay be required to attend technical classes to keep skill set current and to keep pace with firm product/utility setOther technology projects as requiredAdministrative management
Manage and supervise Senior Desktop and Endpoint Engineers including hiring, training, evaluation, counseling and termination, as necessaryAssess Desktop and Endpoint delivery team workload, and shifts duties and tasks as necessary to ensure an even workload on each employee's deskProvides staff development and continuing education opportunities for the team to maximize employee potential. Acts as mentor to the teamReview and approve e-timelogs for the teamIn consult with Central HR, Senior Architecture and Engineering Manager and Director Network Services and Engineering, counsels team members and resolves employment problems as neededCustomer service
Identify or respond to training needs related to the supported systems and applicationsProvide training on systems and practice group procedures to all users, including the practice groups and firm's clientsEnsure issues are resolved in timely manner within the established SLAsConduct weekly team meetings to identify key concerns, develop solution strategies and communications with customerGeneral

5+ years of experience with at least 3 Windows desktop operating system versions, application analysis, and Citrix published applications as well as support of at least 6 different desktop and laptop hardware devicesDemonstrated competency in one (or more) scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, VB script)Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating systemsWorking knowledge of Citrix XenApps and XenDektopFamiliarity with industry standard application deployment tools (New Boundary Prism Deploy Suite/Microsoft SCCM or similar)Familiarity with Mobile Device Management application deployment technologies such as MS Intune or Ivanti Mobile IronFamiliarity and to Microsoft M365 and Office 365 stackFamiliarity with use of Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS) replicating file shares.Familiarity with standard Microsoft deployment tools and their application in the enterprise (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit/operating systems - Office Customization Tool/Microsoft Office suites - Internet Explorer Administration Kit/IEAK) and/or alternate third-party tools for deployment of core systems and applicationsPreferred:
