Overview & Responsibilities:

The Director of Global Communications is a key member of the Global Communications team and is responsible for implementing both internal and external communication strategies for Paramount Pictures. Alongside the Head of Global Communications and Executive Director, the Director will work across all divisions of the portfolio including marketing, production/development, distribution, home entertainment, studio operations, franchise management, consumer products, acquisitions, special events, Paramount Animation, Paramount Players, and Republic Pictures. The main responsibility of this role is to work closely with the Executive Director to manage trade and business media relations and implement business strategies for the studio, along with executive communications and film-specific news.

The role will report to the Executive Director of Global Communications and will work closely with senior Paramount Pictures executives, business partners, and various internal cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain positive relationships with trade and entertainment press, independently fielding inquiries, and overseeing approval processes with executives, filmmakers, representatives, and partners.

Work closely with the global communications and senior leadership teams directly to ensure the company’s goals and accomplishments are reflected in announcements and key messaging.

Independently handle day-to-day inquiries from trade reporters and entertainment press regarding studio projects, box office reporting and transactional announcements.

Proactively identify and independently implement opportunities to highlight key executives and studio initiatives in the press.

Work with talent and filmmaker reps on announcements, including drafting media materials such as fact sheets, talking points, and memos.

Collaborate with internal teams to gather information to identify new opportunities to turn into marketable stories.

Identify and secure speaking opportunities for executives that ladder up to the company’s core messaging.

Oversee the department’s editorial calendar and special issues’ lists, and pitching, including executive profiles and story placement.

Work in close collaboration with Corporate Social Responsibility and manage media opportunities for studio-wide initiatives (volunteer activities, education initiatives, fundraising events).

Collaborate with the publicity and marketing team on consumer media communications.

Serve a key role in corporate events such as town halls, film premieres, and industry events (CinemaCon).

Manage executives at red carpet events, premieres, awards events.

Track media coverage and follow industry trends.

Travel and staff events as designated.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

8+ years experience in TV/Film PR, Publicity, and/or Corporate Communications at an agency, studio, or network.

Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, internet software.

Additional Qualifications:

Highly organized and proven ability to manage/prioritize concurrent projects.

Strong writer, strategic approach, resourceful problem-solver.

Proven ability to establish media relationships and cultivate additional contacts in the space.

Excellent judgment regarding how to position news as pertinent to the media.

Extensive knowledge of the media landscape.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Flexibility to work events and box office weekends.

Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities.

Additional Information:

Hiring Salary Range: $124,000.00 - 155,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
