Our team members are loyal and dedicated, taking pride in providing our guests with a comfortable, memorable experience.We are seeking a Events & Meetings Manager to join our team! This role meets and exceeds revenue goals by planning, coordinating and up-selling all components of the catering business in a profitable and win-win selling approach. Their primary focus includes all coordination of assigned group catering details to include food, beverage and room setups as well as maintaining group room blocks. A variety of business types, including weddings, corporate meetings, community events, and more will fall under the Events and Meetings Manager's purview, often with short notice, and needs for expedited service.What Intercontinental St. Paul Riverfront can bring to YOU:Benefits including Medical, Dental, Disability and vision insurance;401(k) including 401(k) match;Paid Time Off (both paid sick time and vacation);Employee Discount;Flexible ScheduleWhat you can bring to Intercontinental St. Paul Riverfront:Understand and respond to all guests’ needs and requests in a timely, professional manner with a sense of urgency.Act as a liaison between the hotel and the client to ensure all details of each program are planned, executed and communicated successfully.Create group resumes and banquet event orders outlining all group details, meet distribution deadlines and adhere to SOP’s and on track criteria.Plan and execute all group events, including assistance with menu and wine selection, decor, entertainment, audio visual and recreational activities.Create up-selling opportunities for all groups.Ensure food & beverage minimums are met or exceeded per group contract and that advance deposits and payments, or attrition fees are collected as outlined in each contract.Ensure all hotel amenities and upgrades are presented and sold.Communicate last minute changes of all events to hotel staff and ensure operational follow-up is at required standards.Attend daily BEO Review meetings and weekly group resume meetings to communicate any last-minute changes and overall review of events.Other duties as assigned by management.We are seeking candidates with:2 years minimum of hotel sales and catering experience, hotel operations, or previous banquet experience is required.High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.Knowledge of general sales techniques including food & beverage trends, menu management and seasonality of ingredients.Comfortable using a computer, previous experience with Delphi, diagram software and Microsoft suite preferred.Strong follow up skills to ensure guest satisfaction.Can do attitude that enjoys coming up with creative solutions to problems.Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to assess customer's needs, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of overall customer satisfaction.Comfortable upselling to guests with basic knowledge of principles and methods of showing, promoting and selling products.Comfortable multi-tasking and can thrive in a high stress, fast-paced environment.Strong organization and time management skills.Stellar communication and interpersonal skills, who are comfortable interacting with many types of personalities.Able to speak, read, write and understand English.Capable of performing basic math functions.Able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.Physical Environment:Must have dexterity/mobility to meet clients on and off premises if needed, to tour property and attend functions, to climb stairs, use door keys and operate basic office equipment.Vision to read fine print and computer screens, to see colors, to observe rooms in poorly lit conditions.At Intercontinental Riverfront St. Paul, we don’t just accept difference - we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team and our community.
