Summary of Position

The Senior QA Engineer position supports our Metadata services, which are critical, revenue driving services for our OTT platforms. The primary function of the Senior QA Engineer is to successfully create, maintain and execute both manual and automated test cases, by designing tests to validate the functionality of our backend systems. The Senior QA Engineer will also design and perform load tests on these systems.

The selected candidate MUST have experience integrating different backend systems/platforms together, with the ability to define the associated testing requirements for integrations within our own team and making sure those work for the customer facing application development teams who will consume those services.

Successful applicants will have strong SQL skills and the ability to write complex queries to both gather data for testing and interpret test results.

Responsibilities

Responsible for writing and executing test-cases for large and complex features across multiple systems by analyzing user stories, acceptance criteria, creating initial test designs, writing scripts, installing the automation testing tools, and be able to perform manual testing when applicableResponsible for defining and designing performance, load testsTroubleshoots automation software issuesEffectively communicates issues and corrective actions to managementIdentifies cross-functional dependencies and potential risks and quality issuesLogs bugs in the defect tracking system and keeps the state of the ticket up to date, escalating where necessary to expedite resolutionWorks closely/collaborates with the services development team, client engineering and QA teams to troubleshoot issues in production and lower-level environmentsAssists in managing test case repositories and any automated testing tools that are in useReviews test cases and assists more junior team membersEducation and Work Experience

BS degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent technical field5+ years as a QA Engineer5+ years working directly as a member of a technical team, preferably writing test cases/supporting/innovating for a consumer-facing productQualifications and Skills

Understanding and knowledge of Software Engineering Concepts and MethodologiesIn depth knowledge of test cases - negative, positive and regression testingIn depth understanding of both manual and automated testing, and commercial experience writing and executing such testsExperience with writing automation tests using one of the following: ReadyAPI, PostMan, JMeter, Cucumber, Cypress, Selenium, WebDriverIO, Fiddler or CharlesExperience with logging tools like SplunkExperience with AWS Lambdas and SQS or their equivalents in Azure/GCPProficient with designing and delivering load testing solutions for highly scalable systems; experience with K6, JMeter or any other load testing toolExpert understanding of REST APIAdvanced SQL knowledgeExperience working with CI/CD pipelines, for automated deploymentsExperience with system/platform integrations and the ability to work cross-functionallyShows strong initiative and is motivated to learn; works independently.
