We are looking for an Ophthalmic Medical Technician to join our Pasadena Eye Center Team!

Candidates will be required to participate in an onsite skills assessment. Compensation commensurate with skills.

The Ophthalmic Medical Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Collecting and recording patient medical historyInstructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations.Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure) (Goldmann required)Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLATesting elements of movement (eye muscle function)Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement)Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, Interferometry, brightness acuity testingParticipating in light cleaning of the facilityMaintaining a sanitized environmentPerforming corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonographyAssisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts.Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patientsAssisting with Lasers or minor proceduresWorking Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands:Standing/walking 95% of the day to perform the essential job duties.Full body rotation (i.e., bending, stooping, twisting, etc.)Ability to lift at least 20lbs.Communicating with others to exchange information.Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.No adverse environmental conditions expected.Qualifications:Required:Minimal of one year in OphthalmologyPreferred:CertificationCertification through JCAHPOAssociates Degree - preferred
