Design and implement software tools for image segmentation, annotations, reconstructions, and biophysical modeling at the molecular, synaptic, dendritic, and circuit levels, from nanoscale images. Background in cell biology and demonstrated ability to develop software solutions to prescient questions in the field.Conduct computational experiments on data sets to be used in publications.Enhance, recode, and redevelop the labs primary software product Reconstruct to PyReconstruct using modern programming languages and data structures.Use deep-learning with emergent technologies that are setting new standards to create polygon generating surfaces (e.g. Neuroglancer, flood-filling networks, CDeep3M).Develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs) that expand throughput and quantitative analysis by experimental and computational neuroscientists.Network with scientists throughout the world: attend conferences, visit other sites, host hackathons, participate in joint endeavors, develop open-source tools.Integrate developed software into 3DEM.org, an NSF NeuroNex Technology Hub tasked with sharing computational tools and data at the Texas Advanced Computing Center.Maintain up-to-date GitHub source code repositories for all software development.Analyze database strategies to manage large quantities of metadata, images, reconstructions, quantitative analyses, etc.Prepare relevant components of manuscripts for scientific journals on new findings and technical developments.Write own grant proposals and assist with general lab grant proposals.Mentor and train staff members on computational analyses using newly implemented software. In addition, mentor and train students in computational programming and data analysis.
