The American College of Cardiology (ACC) is searching for a new Web Manager to join our Digital Publishing team. This person will directly contribute to the impact of our medical journals by managing our very visible www.JACC.org site, which houses the digital Journals and meaningful related content. The JACC Family of Journals spans the entire field of cardiovascular medicine, keeping investigators, clinicians, and specialists up to date on the latest practice-changing science. The Web Manager will manage the JACC Journals' web operations, oversee web content production, ensuring seamless user experience and implementing strategies to enhance visibility and engagement. The ideal candidate has a strong background in web management, a solid understanding of content management systems, a keen eye for quality, is process oriented - appreciates process improvement, an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, is customer focused, team-oriented, and skilled at project and time management. The individual should be capable of working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented publishing environment.

The Web Manager will partner with the Digital Content Manager, Digital Product Manager and Web Developer on innovating our products, enhancing our reader experience, and leveraging SEO to increase site traffic and raise brand awareness.

This position is based in Washington, DC where we have a hybrid work environment (two days per week in the office).

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Owner of the JACC Journal's website (https://www.jacc.org/).Ensures JACC Journal's website functionality by managing intake of all web requests --ensuring requirements are clearly defined, wireframes finalized, ticket creation, setting timelines, post launch QA for new page templates and components, and website maintenance and enhancements.Collaborate with the Digital Publishing team, Executive and Managing Journal Editors and internal and external stakeholders to bring new features and applications to the site.Derive technical requirements for website improvements, prototype wireframes and develop final design mockups.Produce or update necessary technical documentation (e.g., SOPs for site maintenance, QA checklists, etc.).Use data, industry best practices, and customer / competitive insights to identify opportunities to create innovative user experiences.Implement SEO strategies to increase web traffic and enhance discoverability of journal content -- follow SEO best practices for site design, content creation and management.Identify and promote ideas for site speed improvement and optimization.Optimize website performance, including page load times, mobile responsiveness, and search engine visibility.Maintain familiarity with website hosting vendor's new technologies -- identify opportunities for web development, improvement, and optimization.Plan and coordinate the acquisition of various types of web content, ensuring the timely posting and cross linking.Collaborate with Enterprise Content and Digital Strategy team on enterprise taxonomy - ensuring alignment between JACC Journals and Enterprise Content Team.Partner with Digital Content Manager to ensure journal content has been reviewed by appropriate staff and publishing times set for on-time publication to website.Write user stories for product and database analysis, updates or enhancements.Define and prioritize new features or enhancements within the product backlog, and make sure the ideas are documented and deployed correctly.Monitor website analytics and generate reports to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.Responsible for coding (CSS, HTML, XHTML, XSLT, JavaScript) UI/UX design, graphic design of front-end applications.Contribute to digital publishing team discussions around UI/UX, usability, and user-centered design to ensure processes and products meet market needs and are efficiently developed and supported.Ensure content has been staged, reviewed and approved by appropriate stakeholders prior to being published on websites.Work with vendors to learn and manage various web admin tools and bug tracking systems and follow up with weekly calls to get the problems resolved.Ensure platform fixes impacting the site or content display have been made appropriately and quality checks are passed.Responsible for web content architecture and maintenance including wireframe, design and development of new web pages.Test new products upon implementation and provide user documentation.Providing demos and training of new tools to other team members.Be adaptable with working hours to accommodate website or content updates during conferences in different time zones.Maintain product catalog data. In addition, maintain the meta data for our website and related to product catalog; update as needed.Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or similar field related qualification and 3 years of relevant professional web management, design and editing experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)Familiarity with design tool Adobe Creative CloudStrong competency with HTMLExperience with SEO, web analytics (e.g., GA4), and digital marketing toolsCollaborative, positive attitude with a strong team ethicMotivated, self-directed, and results orientedStrong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of qualityExcellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and reprioritize time effectively, and work within tight deadlinesExceptional organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to ideate and contribute to innovative and creative solutions.Strong understanding of digital content best practices, responsive design, and web compliance standardsFamiliarization with Agile and Waterfall approachesDesired Qualifications:

Some knowledge of scientific publishing, online publishingExperience with Atypon's hosting platform, LiteratumUnderstanding of publishing formatting: XML, XSLT to assist with reviewing and troubleshooting content related to display issues, by analyzing XML documentsStrong competency of the following development tools: CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, XHTML, XSLTExperience with project management and collaboration tools - JIRA, Monday.com, Asana, and/or Confluence is a plusExperience with SQL server databases is a plus

These factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations. Our salary ranges differ based on the cost of labor in the local market where the job will be performed. For this role in Washington, DC (and other high-cost of labor markets if applicable, including California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Washington) the target base salary range is: $80,000 - $95,000. The salary ranges for other locations in the US will vary based on the local labor market; ACC's Recruitment Team will be able to provide more information to candidates during initial discussions.
