Job Overview
Summary/ObjectiveThe Hourly Detailer supports the Sales and Service Department operations with clean and finely detailed vehicles. Conform to dealership and/or manufacturer specifications and time allowances.
Essential Functions
Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows, and wipes down doorjambsApplies wax to auto body and wipes or buffs surfaceVacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debrisCleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devicesApplies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot- and stain-resistant chemicalsCleans engine and engine compartment with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agentsApplies special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendationsInspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation. Communicates all defects to managerRestores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery, and painted surfaces. Uses touch-up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materialsFills vehicle with fuelKeeps shop area neat and clean and able to account for all dealership-owned tools and equipment at all timesUnderstands, keeps up-to-date, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations such as; safety rules and procedures, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.Wears appropriate PPE, i.e. uses proper protection when using products that require protectionApplies dressing on tires and tire wellsReplaces missing or defective small partsOther duties as assignedOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
